It would be a pretty mundane life as they would mix whale blubber and other ingredients to make candles all day. They wouldn't get outside much so overall it would be a pretty boring existence. As most of them worked in their homes working conditions would vary as would health. Their salaries would be decent as there was always a demand for candles.
